ART/LIFE

The installation explores art and life as they coexist and collide in the artist’s studio, and within the artist as sentient being. In this small room are two finished canvases on the wall and an unstretched canvas thrown to the floor in ambivalence. Items on the desk include brushes, paper, acrylic paint, pastels, and found pieces of rusted metal, a favorite material of this artist. Drawings are pinned to the wall, and on the floor are discarded drawings as well as books, magazines and ephemera—with wine and cheese in the time-out corner. Dominating the wall opposite the window which looks into the room is the focal point of the installation. It is a “made” window, looking out beyond this interior space, providing a view, meditation and spillover of art/life.
